The First Meeting:
What Should I Expect?
We’ll be spending time together perfecting your content marketing strategy, so I encourage you to get a feel for whether or not we’ll be a good match. I’ll be assessing cultural fit, asking questions to help me understand the scope of your needs, and inquiring about what marketing you’ve done to date.
1.Before the call: Read Up.
2. Before the call: Make a list.
What are you willing to change? What do you insist on keeping? Some clients want to use an existing brand narrative and voice while others are open to scrapping everything but their logo. Honestly assess where you stand on the spectrum.
3. The video call.
These days people expect to meet over video, but it wasn’t always the case. I prefer to have the camera on because a hefty portion of communication is non-verbal.
4. The questions.
I’ll use our first call to understand what you need and whether I can help. I’ll ask questions about how you feel about your current messaging, where you want me to focus, and what you do and don’t want to change. This often leads to a conversation about your products/services, target markets, and what has and hasn’t worked to date.
5. The follow up.
We’ll end the call with clear next steps. If it’s a good fit, we’ll discuss pricing, contracts, and timelines. When we disconnect our call, you’ll know what to expect and when it will be delivered.
